Reader compatibility, and how to establish it
Compatibility is the question every enquiry contains and the one no supplier can answer from their own side. The information lives in your access-control system and in the locks on your doors. What we can do is tell you precisely what to look for, and tell you honestly when the answer is no.

The three facts
The make and model of the reader or lock; the credential technology and frequency it reads; and the encoding scheme it expects, including whether your team enrols credentials or the vendor supplies them pre-configured. With all three, compatibility is usually determinable on paper. With two, it is a guess. This is why an enquiry that names a system gets a real answer in a day and one that does not gets a list of questions.
Some platforms cannot accept a third-party credential
A number of lock platforms use credentials configured at the factory with keys held only by the vendor. On those systems a blank from any other supplier will not enrol, regardless of matching the frequency or the chip family, because the barrier is cryptographic. We will say so immediately rather than sell a run that cannot be made to work. Many other platforms accept customer-enrolled credentials without difficulty, which is exactly why the model number is the first question rather than the last.
Test a sample on the actual door
Paper compatibility and a working door are different claims. Antenna geometry, reader recess depth and mounting position all affect whether a specific band reads well on a specific lock, and none of that is in a datasheet. A small sample set presented to a real door by whoever maintains your locks converts an opinion into a fact. It costs a few days and it is the difference between a specification and a hope.
Send a spare card
A working credential from your existing estate is the most useful thing an enquiry can include. It can be examined to determine frequency and chip family directly, which resolves in minutes what an email thread resolves in a week. It is not always possible — cards are controlled items at many properties — but where it is, it removes most of the uncertainty from the quotation immediately.

Compatibility is subject to confirmation of your lock system, credential technology and encoding requirements.
