Paper wristbands

A synthetic paper band that tears if you try to move it to another wrist, and survives a full day of pool water if you do not. The cheapest credential that still cannot be swapped between guests.

How the closure actually resists transfer

The closure is a one-time adhesive tab, and the security comes from what happens when someone works against it rather than from how hard it sticks. The adhesive bonds to the surface coating more strongly than that coating bonds to the sheet underneath it. Lift the tab and the coating lifts with it, leaving a white scar that cannot be pressed back down.

That is also why a slit-and-re-adhere attempt fails in the open. Tyvek has very high tear strength along the sheet and almost none once a cut has been started, so a band taken off a wrist cannot be returned to a usable state. Neither behaviour asks anything of your staff — there is no hologram to inspect and no number to read back. The evidence is mechanical, and it is visible at arm’s length on a gate.

Sequential numbering is printed in the same pass as the artwork, so every band carries a unique mark and it costs nothing extra. Set against a count of passes sold, that is a reconciliation trail: the range issued, the range still on the roll, and any number that turns up twice. Colour separates package tiers in the same glance, which is what keeps a busy entrance moving.

Two things are worth settling before a run. The width, because 19 mm and 25 mm behave differently once type gets small and a 19 mm band will not carry a long property name legibly. And whether the band has to carry a transponder — Tyvek will not laminate cleanly around a rigid inlay, so a day guest who needs a chip as well as a printed band is a coated-paper job rather than this one.
