Band 12
Child safety wristbands
A child band does three jobs an adult band does not: it fits a wrist that ranges from a toddler to a twelve-year-old, it survives being chewed and pulled, and it helps reunite a lost child with a parent without publishing that child's identity to whoever finds them. The third job is the one that gets specified badly, and the mistakes are made in the artwork rather than the material.

Compatibility
Bands are encoded to work with the lock and point-of-sale systems your property already runs. We supply entry, standard and high-security HF transponders at 13.56 MHz, and 125 kHz where a property still runs a low-frequency estate.
Name the system on your enquiry and send a spare card if you have one. Bands arrive in sequential blocks, ready to issue, with nothing to program on site.
All third-party marks are the property of their respective owners. Any reference indicates compatibility only and does not imply affiliation or endorsement.
Substrates
Available in silicone and coated paper.
The construction is fixed; the substrate is the decision. This is where wear period, water behaviour and unit price are actually settled.
Moulded elastomer
Silicone
Solid moulded elastomer. Not affected by salt water, chlorine or sun cream, which is what actually ends most wristbands.
Material specificationLaminated stock
Coated paper
Card stock under a laminate film. The cheapest way to carry a chip for a single day.
Material specificationDo not print the child's name on the outside of the band
The instinct is to print the child's name and a parent's mobile number on the band so that anyone who finds them can call. It is well-meant and it is the wrong design. A band with a name on it lets a stranger address a child by name, which is the exact social engineering that child-safety guidance across the sector tells properties to avoid, and it publishes a parent's personal number to everyone who walks past the pool.
The pattern that works is a reference number and a single instruction: a short code printed large, and the words "found child — take to reception". Reception reads the code, looks up the record, and calls the parent. The child's identity never leaves your systems, the finder needs no judgement, and the person the child ends up with is a member of your staff rather than whoever was closest.
The transponder carries the same reference rather than a name, for the same reason and one more: an encoded record is not readable by a phone unless you have specified it to be, so the band is not a source of information to a stranger at all. Where a property wants a parent to be able to check a child in and out themselves, that is a reader at the club door tied to the parent's own band — not data printed on a child.
Sizing and safety are simpler but unforgiving. Three lengths cover toddler through junior, and the closure must be a one-time lock or an adhesive tab rather than a slider, because a slider loosens and a loose band on a small wrist comes off in water. Nothing detachable, nothing that becomes a small part when chewed, and no metal. Colour is doing the real supervision work: a lifeguard reads a wristband colour across a pool at a distance where no printed text is legible at all.
