Wristbands for golf and country clubs
A club has three populations who all look identical in the clubhouse: members, guests of members and visitors paying a green fee. Each has different rights at the bar, the pro shop and the practice ground, and staff are expected to know which is which without asking.
Entitlement, not access
Almost nothing at a club is behind a locked door. The question is not whether someone may enter, it is what they may charge and at what rate. That makes the band a billing credential first: it identifies a person against a house account, a member's guest allowance or a day-visitor tab. Properties that specify this as an access system end up with hardware on doors that were never going to be locked.
Members will not wear a plastic band
The clubhouse dress code is the constraint nobody mentions until the samples arrive. A member paying an annual subscription will not wear a moulded silicone loop to lunch, and asking them to is the fastest way to kill a programme. Members either carry a card and use bands only for pool and leisure areas, or the band is a discreet leather-substitute, cork or wooden construction that reads as an accessory. Visitors are a different matter — a day band is expected and unremarkable.
The guest-of-member allowance is the awkward case
A member signing in a guest creates a temporary entitlement that expires and that someone else pays for, and it is where most club billing disputes originate. A visitor band issued against the member's account, dated for the day and visibly distinct from a member credential, makes the arrangement explicit to everyone including the guest. It also gives the club an accurate count of guest rounds, which is usually undercounted when it relies on a signature in a book.
Seasonal and daily credentials are different products
A member credential lasts a year and should be durable and discreet. A visitor credential lasts an afternoon and should be cheap and disposable. Trying to serve both with one band produces something too expensive to give away and too casual to wear as a member. Two runs on one artwork approval is the normal answer, and it costs less than most clubs expect.
What to tell us before we quote
- Member count, and average visitors per week in season
- Whether members will wear a band at all, or only in leisure areas
- How a member's guest is signed in and billed
- Which outlets charge to a house account
- Dress-code constraints, in writing, before samples
500 bands per artwork, mixed colours counted as one run.
Compatibility is subject to confirmation of your lock system, credential technology and encoding requirements.
Usually specified
Bands that suit this sector.
Club environments are about entitlement rather than access. Almost nobody is stopped at a door; what matters is knowing quickly whether a person is a member, a member's guest or a green-fee visitor, and charging accordingly. The band has to do that without looking out of place in a clubhouse.
