Vinyl wristbands
Vinyl fills the gap between a day and a season. It is a flexible plastic strip with a one-way snap closure that cannot be reopened without destroying it, printed in solid colour and worn for anything from three days to three weeks. It is the default at water parks and multi-day events, and it is the band most often specified wrongly at premium properties, where it undersells the room.

Materials
Supplied in vinyl or cloth stretch. Each behaves differently against salt water, chlorine and sun cream — the material pages say plainly where each one fails.

The construction is fixed; the substrate is the decision. This is where wear period, water behaviour and unit price are actually settled.
Where vinyl is the wrong answer
Vinyl earns its place on price and on the snap. A one-way snap cannot be reopened — the tab deforms permanently — so the band is genuinely non-transferable without the running cost of a woven lock, and the multi-position snap means one SKU fits a child and an adult. For a water park issuing thousands of three-day passes, nothing else in the range is close on cost per wrist.
It fails on two fronts and both are predictable. Sun cream softens the print surface, so a band worn on a lounger for two weeks shows scuffing and the colour goes chalky at the edges. And it looks like what it is: a plastic strip. At a five-star property that is a mismatch the guest notices at check-in, which is exactly the moment you are trying to set an expectation.
It also cannot carry a transponder well. Vinyl is thin and the snap area is the only rigid part, so an inlay either sits in the flexing section and eventually cracks, or it makes the closure too thick to snap reliably. Properties that want a chip on a multi-day band should be looking at coated paper for sessions or woven fabric for stays, and we will point that out rather than build a band that fails in week two.
Used inside its range it is excellent and there is no reason to apologise for it. Three days to three weeks, high volume, colour doing the tier work, price the deciding factor, and no requirement to open a door. Outside that range there is a better band on this site for every case.
