Band 10

Recycled RFID wristbands

A recycled band is not a compromise on performance, and any supplier telling you it is has bought the wrong yarn. Post-consumer rPET is mechanically recycled into filament that weaves, dyes and wears like virgin polyester. The real differences are colour consistency between lots and the paperwork you get with the delivery — and the paperwork is usually why the band was specified.

Compatibility

Bands are encoded to work with the lock and point-of-sale systems your property already runs. We supply entry, standard and high-security HF transponders at 13.56 MHz, and 125 kHz where a property still runs a low-frequency estate.

Name the system on your enquiry and send a spare card if you have one. Bands arrive in sequential blocks, ready to issue, with nothing to program on site.

All third-party marks are the property of their respective owners. Any reference indicates compatibility only and does not imply affiliation or endorsement.

Colour variation between lots, and how to specify around it

Virgin polyester starts from a controlled feedstock and dyes to a target with very little drift. Recycled yarn starts from collected bottles, and the base tone of the filament varies with what was in the collection stream that month. Dye the same colour onto two lots and one can land marginally warmer than the other — not enough to notice on its own, very much enough to notice when a guest wearing week-one stock stands beside one wearing week-six.

The mitigation is to buy the season, not the month. A single yarn lot covering a season's bands removes the problem entirely, and that is usually a scheduling decision rather than a cost one: it means committing to a full-season quantity in one order and taking delivery in phases. Properties that order monthly against demand should expect visible lot variation and should choose a design where it does not read — darker grounds, or a colour that is not the property's primary brand colour.

Where variation cannot be tolerated at all, the honest answer is that a recycled yarn is the wrong specification. We will say that rather than ship two visibly different deliveries and describe it as the nature of the material. It is the nature of the material, but a guest does not know that and a general manager should not have to explain it.

Everything else behaves as standard polyester. Tensile strength, dye fastness under UV, chlorine tolerance and the way the weave carries small type are unchanged, because the polymer is unchanged. The transponder pocket, the lock and the read position are identical to the standard woven band, so a property switching from one to the other is not retraining anybody.

What it is used for

  • Group-wide sustainability commitments with reporting obligations
  • Tenders requiring documented recycled content
  • High-volume stay bands where the story has to scale
  • Replacing a virgin polyester band without changing the spec

What ships with the order

  • Material declaration for the substrate supplied
  • Transponder type and encoding record, per block
  • Batch and quantity reconciliation per carton
  • Artwork proof as approved, for your records

FSC-certified material options available with supporting production documentation.
